The Little Monsters were getting their house ready for Halloween. Paper bats hung overhead. A pumpkin glowed by the door.
Pip hid behind the door.
“Boo!” he called.
“Who?” asked Noodle.
“No, boo!” said Pip.
“Yes, but who?” Noodle grinned.
Pip giggled. “Our house is supposed to be spooky!”
“I’ll make a spooky sound,” said Tumble. He tapped two lids together.
Clink. Clink.
“More pudding, please!” called Ziggy, holding out a pretend bowl.
Tumble laughed and tapped again.
In the next room, Pebble put a cushion behind a toy skeleton.
“There,” he said. “Now you’re comfy.”
Pip peeked around the corner. “Even our skeleton has a cushion!”
Ziggy made a rabbit shadow on the wall. Its ears wiggled. Pip’s giggles came back.
“Nothing here is spooky,” Pip told Momo.
“Come and try our house,” she said. “You can be the visitor.”
Pip went outside. He knocked three times.
Knock, knock, knock.
The door opened.
“Boo!” called his five friends.
“Who?” asked Pip.
Everyone laughed. Tumble clinked his lids. Ziggy’s shadow rabbit hopped along the wall. Pebble offered Pip the chair beside the skeleton.
Pip sat down with a happy sigh. From his chair, he could see the pumpkin glowing and all his friends smiling.
“Shall we try a bigger boo?” asked Noodle.
Pip grinned. “Let’s try that funny one again!”
